What wikipedia can’t tell you about Love

Hello! I am extremely excited to introduce a new staple blog post right here, every Saturday “What wikipedia can’t tell you about love.” It’s really born out of my own personal journey as I seek to discover and love myself more as a single young professional, and a passion I have to encourage others in reaching their best potential. As soppy as it sounds, I believe love is the fuel to that. More on that in the coming weeks ahead. Today’s post is an my introduction to an idea that love is more than words on a wiki page, it’s way more than the superficial and self obsessed walking definition we can…

    Real talk.

I just have to take a moment and get real for a second. This is another letter from my heart to my younger self. Dear my younger self, There comes a point in life when realise you are worth so much more than what you settled for. It’s time to get up and take action for we have one life. Trust me darling, it’s better for you to spend this one spreading love and joy, than fighting or falling over the trap of comparison. Choose to give love, than just to take love. For it’s the only real way to receive love back. Take a preference of trying over failing…

    Sow to grow

I am feeling rather inspired this evening after a packed day of interviews, work, editing and listening. As I prepare for move number seven in a few weeks time, and think about some of the plans I have coming up in the next few months, I am more excited than ever about the fruit of this seasons labour. #sowbabysow Dear Princess, Remember the principle of seed, time and harvest, and how we must sow wisely with our thoughts, words, and actions. Be thinking about what kind of fruit you want to see come from your life, and the kind of person you want to be. Be sure to check it matches up with the…

I got thick skin, and elastic heart

I had to make a very important phone call this morning, and after being on hold for an hour and a half, I decided to turn my frustration into creativity and found myself reading Dr Caroline Leaf’s book on toxic thoughts. It’s such a good book. I have learnt so much about the way my brain works, and how important it is to be mindful and selective about the thoughts I use. Did you know our thoughts can impact our psychical health? I’ve been aware of the power of thought from a very young age, and how it’s important for me to guard what comes into my mind. I had…

    Growing pains

Have you ever experienced pain so deep that you had little space to think, or function beyond the prominent feeling of agony? I was recently drawn into a moment of complete wilderness when I lost my job, a relationship ended, and lost my home within a matter of 6 weeks. I really didn’t know what to think, feel or believe, and the woman I knew, the happy, positive and self driven young woman had suddenly found herself in a place of uncomfortable, uncertain, and abandoned. Trying to make sense of it all took a greater amount of time than I expected, and only months after the pinnacle point of pain can I…

    The school of love

Sounds cheesy, but this is pretty much where I’ve been for the last month. I can’t begin to tell you my experience, but I am so thankful for having faith in someone greater, bigger and more powerful than all of my experiences put together.   I’m currently busy looking for a new home, and whilst I got easily distracted by the internet I stumbled across the following sentence that just hit the light switch on some misconceptions about love. Here’s just a snippet of the things I’m learning, and that I can be thankful for; 1. True love is not a feeling, it’s what you do. 2. You know you’ve found true…

    Wind, freefall and parachute

I’ve never been sky diving before, and I’ve never really wanted to either. I’m happy to go a plane, but if you ask me do I want to jump out of one. The answer will most definitely NOT, you crazy person! Still, I do love this beautiful multi coloured parachute… The closest I’ve probably come to an extreme sport is zip wiring down a 25ft creek. Back in high school I went on a team building weekend to an outdoor activities centre. I still remember the fear of the unknown and terrifying fate that awaited me as I stood 25ft up, on a rock that I was about to glide off  from, with…
