    Dancing Feet Continued…

During my 5 year wait to join a dance school, I would carefully watch my favourite music videos, practice and listen to my favourite songs about 100 times until I knew the words and steps off by heart. On Saturday’s my mum and aunt would take me shopping, and I still remember that time in Asda when my aunt said she was no longer coming back with me if I didn’t stop dancing down the aisles. I was shocked and appalled at her lack of support for a second, but then I decided to take myself off to the next aisle, and dance there; when no one was watching. I…

    Dancing feet (eStory part 1)

I used to love watching the crowd of dancers, and cheerleaders dance through the streets of my local town parade. I was 4, and every year that I could make it (which was a hit or miss between weekly hospital visits) I would on with wide eyes asking my mum to let me join, but she never really took me serious, or at least that was my perspective. Little did I realise that she was just being protective of her daughter who had many health challenges to fight. I still remember moments of being in a blue light ambulance having the paramedic fuss all over me, with masks and needles,…

A lesson from Mr DiCaprio on his 40th birthday

Hollywood’s most private celebrity. During this evening’s couch session, I watched a clip on Leo’s 40th birthday, which featured footage from when he was 17. He talked about how he faced rejection in the early stages of his career with casting managers overlooking his talent and making fun of his hair cut. Leo went on to start in one of the biggest movies of our time; the Titanic. There are thousands of stories out there like Leo’s. The truth of the matter is anyone who does anything will face some kind of set back, or rejection. Those moments are not what define us. It’s what we do with them that will determine…

    Fitness challenge continued

So today marks a new level in my pursuit to rediscover some sort of fitness level. I am just about recovering from the pain of my first step class of 2014. On Friday, I thought I was sick, when in actual fact my body was in shock from stretching muscles that clearly hadn’t been stretched in a while. I have to say in spite of the pain, I forgot just how much I loved going to the gym. Going during lunchtime at work is pretty awesome too – It gives you way more energy than coffee (which is something I seriously need to cut down on).  As a former dancer;…

    Fitness challenges

I have to laugh as I write this I am eating a chocolate truffle that was donated to our work area, by a kind colleague who recently returned from a trip to Brussels. I used to have a serious crush on chocolate ganache, but my question for today is this: How wrong is it to go to the gym (during lunch) then proceeds to eat lunch and a box of chocolate truffles straight after, and be guilt free? I mean is that not what gym’s are for? Run fast, eat more? Dear my younger self, It’s a good habit to work out, dance, and eat healthy to stay healthy. When you get…

Cheese, broccoli and chorizo pasta dish

I am late again in giving you this recipe, but as I look forward to making this very meal for dinner this evening, I thought it fitting to share with you all today. You’ll need: 1 chorizo ring 1 bag of whole-wheat pasta 1 tree of broccoli 1 courgette Many sprinkles of your favourite cheese (I choose mature cheddar)  Cut up the chorizo ring into coins, and fry in a large pan with a spot of olive oil (the chorizo will provide an oil that will later coat your pasta, and in my opinion, this finishes the dish off. Boil the broccoli in a pan for 10 minutes, and some whole…

    Moving day

Yes it is finally here! I am moving, and I think I am becoming a pro in this area. This will be the third move in three months, and hopefully the last time for 2014. Having moved several times in the past few years, I thought I’d share three tips on how best to move. 1. Go through and pack properly – Yes, I used to through everything in a black bag before, as I wasn’t the most patient of person. I’m guessing you all know how to pack properly, and would never do this, but I have learnt that it’s worth taking time to create some boxes, and…
